Dubbo Discovery Holiday Caravan Park

A great last minute stop for us was at Dubbo after a long day of driving. Without a booking we decided to take the chance and pop into one of the caravan parks to see if there were any sites available. Sure enough, there was.
Set just on the outskirts of the town centre, Dubbo Discovery Holiday Park is easy to locate and well signed.
Security conscious, there are large double electric gates that require you to enter a code provided to you upon checking in. You may also see the barbed wire on the fence toward the far side of the park.
What you'll find at Dubbo Discovery Holiday Caravan Park
Dubbo Discovery Holiday Caravan Park has many cabins of different types, styles and accommodate varied amounts of guests, and it also has many caravan / camping sites. We were allocated a site on Savanna Street, which is pretty tight for not only novices to reverse a caravan onto. The street itself is quite narrow and the sites either side of us were also quite close, leaving little room to open a caravan awning and to park your car.
It was a little confusing upon hooking up power as there was no power box on our site. After some time, I decided to pay the office another visit to find out where to plug in. It turned out our power supply would be coming from a site below us and over one site.
The amenities are nice, with a large building that houses men and women's toilets and showers, a toddler room, baby room and laundry.
Close to the amenities block is the large camp kitchen which has stoves, bbqs, double door fridge and freezers, sinks, lots of bench space and tables and chairs. Plenty of room for a few families to use at any one time.
There is a large inflated jumping pillow framed by sand and a small playground nearby also.
Not sure what to pack for your next road trip? Not sure how much it will cost to travel Oz? Need something to keep the kids entertained? We have all the Ultimate Road Trip downloadables here!
To the other side of the amenities block is 3 swimming pools. One larger one, one medium sized and one that the water park with water slide is part of.
On the far side of the park is the kids recreation room which has a ping pong table, some arcade games and tables and chairs for the less energetic activities.
Toward the rear of the park are the drive through caravan sites which are a littler roomier than the site which had been allocated for us, although there are many trees within those sites that would not allow you to open your awning, which spoils those sites a little.
Near those sites is a double storey bunkhouse for the larger groups, which holds up to 130 guests at any one time.
Lastly, this park has a small area near the back where guests can wash their cars. Not something that we have seen inside a park before (and we've stayed at a lot of parks).
